LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Doogie Howser is coming to "Boomtown."

Neil Patrick Harris, who played the genius teenager/doctor in "Doogie Howser, M.D." will make a guest appearance on NBC's cop show. The episode is scheduled to air Sunday, Jan. 5.

In the episode, titled "Monster's Brawl," Detectives Stevens and Smith (Donnie Wahlberg and Mykelti Williamson) investigate the murder of a homeless man who was beaten to death with a brick. They come across two young filmmakers (Harris and Christopher Gorden) who pay homeless men to fight each other and videotape the bouts.

The story resembles a real-life case in San Diego, where four men who make the "Bumfights" videos, which sell on the Internet, were charged with soliciting a felony.

Harris' recent credits include "Undercover Brother" and guest appearances on "Will & Grace" and "Ed." He also provides the voice of Peter Parker and his alter ego in "Spider-Man: The Animated Series."
