VETERAN TV COP JOE PENNY ('JAKE AND THE FATMAN') HITS THE STREETS OF 'BOOMTOWN' WHEN HE GUEST STARS ON THE
CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED NBC SERIES
BURBANK, Calif. -- November 4, 2002 -- Veteran television cop Joe Penny ("Jake and the Fatman") returns to crime drama, making a guest star appearance as a washed-up
television cop on NBC's new critically acclaimed series "Boomtown" (Sunday, Nov. 10, 10-11 p.m. ET).
In the episode entitled "Insured by Smith and Wesson," Penny plays Les Van Buren, an
actor idolized by officer Ray Hechler (Gary Basaraba) for his portrayal of Detective Jack
Wesson in a short-lived, television police series, who now manages a Los Angeles
surplus store and finds himself caught in the middle of a hostage standoff during a robbery.
The episode also stars series regulars Donnie Wahlberg, Mykelti Williamson, Neal
McDonough, Jason Gedrick, Nina Garbiras and Lana Parrilla.
Best known for his role as Detective Jake Styles in the police drama "Jake and the Fatman,"
Penny has made many notable guest star appearances in series including "Touched by an
Angel," "Walker, Texas Ranger," "T.J. Hooker" and "The Sopranos."
"Boomtown" is from NBC Studios and DreamWorks Television. Graham Yost and Jon Avnet
are executive producers.
