Last year, May 20, 2001 to be exact I was at a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Anyway, my sister and I were leaving the park when I spotted this cute guy wearing a leather jacket. We were in such a crowd I was able to keep an eye on him for a couple of minutes. The longer I looked the more I thought it was Donnie Wahlberg. Well, after arguing with my sister to call his name I finally got up enough nerve to scream out "Donnie" I was so embarrassed, I mean why would he be at this game? Well to my great suprise he stopped and turned around. I was in shock. I kind of felt like I flew back in time and I was 12 again. I walked up to him and just kinda looked at him. After an uncomfortable second I asked him "Are you Donnie Wahlberg?" He quickly gave that huge Donnie smile and kinda whispered... "Shhh nooo my names Dave" He was smiling the whole time. I looked right at him and said "You are Donnie Wahlberg... you are soooo Donnie" He laughed and admitted to it. I started to talk with him and he said, "Lets keep walking" I was in so much shock I just latched onto his arm and started to cross the horribly busy intersection. I truly didn't even realize what I was doing. Meanwhile leaving my sister behind... and not to mention Donnie and I almost got hit by a bus. It was soooo crazy. We stopped in front of the bar across from Wrigley where I talked with him a little more about the past and his movies. I had him sign my Cubs hat... and would you believe I completely spaced out and didn't get a picture. I had a video camera and a digital and didn't even think of it until afterwards. Well after we talked he gave me a hug and it was over. My meeting with Donnie came to an end. Almost 15 years and when I least expected it there HE was. It was so much fun and he was SO great. He was too funny. I am so happy he is having success these days. I now can proudly say I met him AND I was a fan before he was a big TV/film star.
