After a seven-week hiatus, the acclaimed series returns with a disturbing episode involving the violent brutalization and murders of two families in their homes. As Det. Joel Sears (Donnie Wahlberg) puts it, "I'd call [the criminals] animals, except animals don't do what these people do." A break in the case defines the killers' MO and points toward their next possible target: a well-to-do, terminally ill cancer patient named Henry Stein (Joe Spano) and his family.
