BEVERLY HILLS - Summertime’s great, but Donnie Wahlberg can’t wait for September.
That’s because the Dorchester homey, who has been promoting his Spike TV series “The Kill Point” with John Leguizamo, heads to Connecticut after Labor Day to begin shooting “Righteous Kill,” a cop flick starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
“That’s going to be a real challenge,” Donnie said at the TV critics press tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel the other day. “I get to work with two of the greatest actors and drive to Boston every night. We start shooting in September, so it will be like going to school for me with two fantastic teachers.”
“I’m not going to lie - I really am a TV guy. If I had my choice of mediums, I’d choose TV nine times out of 10,” he said. “I like to work. I want to be on a set 14 hours a day. I don’t want to be in my trailer for 14 hours a day.”
But when he’s not sitting in his RV, Donnie expects to be courtside at preseason Boston Celtics [team stats] games.
“The good news and the bad news for the Celtics is that the Patriots [team stats] and the Red Sox [team stats] have done so well,” said the Green Team superfan. “It’s ‘bad’ because it overshadows them. But it’s also good because people don’t care as much that they haven’t won a championship in a while. It bought them a pass.
“But if they can make that one more move right now . . .if they can get a big man to play alongside of Paul (Pierce) and Ray Allen and possibly keep Al Jefferson [stats], it could be a fantastic year in Boston.”
BTW, “The Kill Point” debuts on Spike TV Sunday at 9 p.m.
File Under: Point Man.
